Mapping Malaria Prevalence Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in Rivers State, Nigeria

 Background: Nigeria aspires to eradicate malaria, and the significance of mapping in this endeavour has grown. The prevalence spatial distribution malaria Rivers State were studied using data from Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs).
 Methodology: PHCs geo-referenced global positioning system (GPS) 74 selected across 21 local government areas Systematic GridPoint Sampling Technique. Blood samples obtained 2340 consented individuals whose demographic with structured questionnaires. films examined for Plasmodium spp. standard parasitological techniques. An overall 56.3% was recorded identifying only P.falciparum. Coordinates sampled inputted into a spread sheet imported ArcGIS 10.7. This used generate maps infection State.
 Results: Ogu-Bolo, Omumma, Abua-Odual LGAs very high LGA whereas Ikwerre, Abua-Odual, Ahoada West, Oyigbo Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni state-level prevalence. Eleme Port Harcourt City had least prevalence.
 Conclusion: observed variation could be attributed land use cover (LULC) patterns further research evaluate impact LULC on is recommended. study provides which will serve as valuable resource policy makers targeted interventions
